Guide
How the editor works
The pictures in this guide are examples. Your own file and segments are in the editor above.
Simple 4-Step Process
1
Upload Your Audio
Drag and drop any audio file (MP3, M4A, WAV) or click to browse. We support all major audio formats.
Example
rehearsal.m4a
lecture.mp3
memo.wav
2
View Waveform
Your audio is instantly processed and displayed as an interactive waveform. Zoom, scroll, and explore your content.

3
Create Segments
Use auto-detection for long files (8+ minutes), manually select segments on the waveform, or use optional word detection for supported speech files. When you trim a segment boundary, AudioMultiCut instantly previews the first or last second so you hear the change right away.
Auto-Detection (8+ min files):

Example
Instant Boundary Preview
As you adjust a segment's start or end inside its card, the app auto-plays the first or last second so you can trim by ear instead of guessing.
Optional Speech Word Detection
On supported computers and browsers, AudioMultiCut can run a small browser-based Whisper AI model to find spoken words and rough word timings. It can miss words and may not be available on every device, but it makes voiceovers, lectures, podcasts, and interviews easier to cut by what is said.
4
Download Segments
Export individual segments or all at once as MP3 or WAV, or copy compatible M4A/AAC audio without re-encoding for original quality and faster downloads.
Example
Segment 1.mp3
Segment 2.mp3
Segment 3.mp3

Start boundary
Precision slider + nudges
01:12.40
Any start adjustment instantly previews the new opening.
End boundary
Slider or mini-arrow trim
01:38.20
End trims replay the tail so you can hear clean cutoffs.
What the app is doing
As soon as the new start lands, AudioMultiCut auditions the first second so you can hear the new attack immediately.
Works with both the precision sliders and the mini-arrow buttons inside every segment card.
Speech Word Detection
For speech files, supported devices can optionally run a local browser-based Whisper AI model to find spoken words and approximate word timings. The words can make it easier to create cuts from a transcript, preview what is under the mouse on the waveform, and see which words fall inside each segment.

Availability varies
This is cutting-edge browser AI. It needs a capable device and compatible browser, may take time to prepare, can miss words, and may not work on every operating system or browser version.
Auto-Detection (Beta)
For audio files longer than 8 minutes, our smart algorithm analyzes silence patterns to automatically detect natural segment boundaries. You can pick a preset for rehearsals, lectures, podcasts, lessons, or live sets, then tune how much silence stays inside one part versus how long a pause should be before a new part starts.

After Auto-Detection:

Pro Tip:The fast auto-cut mode runs a quick envelope scan (<1s) and adapts thresholds to each file without manual tuning, while still enforcing a sensible time-based cap on the total number of detected parts.
Lightning-Fast Export
Our optimized Web Worker-based MP3 encoding processes audio at 20x real-time speed. A 60-second segment exports in just 3 seconds. Compatible M4A/AAC sources can export even faster by copying the original audio without re-encoding.
